Over the last decade the City of Waco has experienced an unprecedented renaissance throughout the greater downtown area, not only with regards to revitalizing old buildings or new developments but also in the realm of Cultural Arts.  All over the downtown area murals have been painted on sides of countless buildings, temporary street art has become a mainstay, cultural art festivals have become quarterly events, and the promotion of local artists has never been greater.  With this level of energy in and around downtown, the Art Center of Waco had a golden opportunity to capitalize on this momentum by purchasing a long-vacant building on the eastern edge of downtown.  Once the building was secured, the Art Center of Waco went on a fundraising campaign for the construction of their new facility in downtown Waco.  Once funding was secured, Mazanec then took on the task of taking design teams concepts to convert a 9,600sf single-story, rectangular shaped building with no windows into an awe-inspiring artistic building that would draw art enthusiasts and passers-by alike into the facility simply with its appearance.
