The Silos Expansion was a fast-paced site development project including various forms of construction over two city blocks in downtown Waco, TX. This project included heavy utility work, multiple buildings, steel structures, athletic facility, decorative concrete, and extensive landscaping and hardscaping. The buildings in this project consisted of six (6) 784 square foot retail cottages, a 2400 square foot concession and bathroom building and a 2100 square foot back of house building. There were also 4 steel structures erected in this project; a café pavilion with a masonry fire place, a food truck pavilion, a ballfield seating canopy and a food truck pergola. Decorative concrete architectural features were also scattered throughout the development. These concrete elements include various forms of “rough formed” concrete planters and benches, raised and flush planters, concrete fountains, and counter tops. Another unique aspect of the project was the synthetic turf “Wiffle Ball” field built in the same location where historic Katy Ballpark used to sit. The project was challenging when it came to construction means and methods undoubtedly; schedule was also a demanding aspect that required strenuous time, coordination and teamwork amongst our contractor team to get this development complete and open for business.
