It’s not often that a project’s final appearance is weighed equally with its intended functionality but then again, the Ratliff Performance Center is not like most projects. As the world of Division I collegiate sports becomes increasingly competitive, universities are tasked with constantly trying to find new creative ways to entice student athletes to be part of their respective program.
The Ratliff Performance Center has accomplished this by turning the traditional “weight room” atmosphere on its head by combining the highest level of finishes with technology while still maintaining the functionality of a strength and conditioning facility. The moment a person walks through the frameless glass doors into the Ratliff Performance Center it’s very apparent this is as much a recruiting tool as it is a functioning strength and conditioning facility. The concept of this renovation project was to provide Baylor’s’ student athletes the most visually impressive nutrition & performance facility in D-I sports for all aspects of training year round.
