Baylor Pro Player Locker Room
Builder: Mazanec Construction Co., Inc
Design Firm: RBDR, Architects
Owner: Baylor University Waco, TX
In recent years it seems that Division I football programs across the nation have continually incorporated new and creative ways to entice prospective players, coaches, and staff to join or remain part of the program. Baylor University has certainly been on the front-end of this movement with all of its athletic facilities, specifically with regards to the football program. This project is a perfect example of why Baylor is at the forefront of this movement. Creating locker room space for former players, specifically those playing the NFL, as well as upgrading the entire football coaching staff locker room space, is the definition of a “win-win”.
The Contractor was honored to be part of such a unique project for the football program, but was also challenged with completing the project within the allotted time frame and addressing many other hurdles. While this project lacked a large amount of square footage, it incorporated an incredible number of high-end finishes such as mosaic tile, cherry wood paneling, custom cherry wood lockers w/granite countertops, digital programmable locks, card readers for secure access into the locker rooms, as well as official “NFL” and “BU” logos at the entry doors to each locker room.
